Colombo (News 1st); The quarantine curfew is still in effect across 18 police areas in the Gampaha District, said DIG Ajith Rohana on Tuesday (13).

Depending on the detection of COVID-19 cases and violations of the quarantine curfew which is in effect, a decision would be made in the coming days with regard to the re-opening of food outlets and pharmacies from Friday.

Further, Public and Private institutions have been requested by the authorities to update the personal details of all employees, said the Deputy Police Chief adding authorities including the intelligence services uncovered the personal files of some people detected from the Minuwangoda cluster were not updated.

Police Spokesperson Ajith Rohana said updating the personal files would assist the authorities to initiate immediate contact tracing without facing any issues.

Further, Sri Lankan authorities hope to issue a gazette notification including World Health Organization guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19, within the next 48 hours.

The gazette notification would be considered as a quarantine order and failure to comply with a quarantine order would result in stern action.
