Unions urges healthcare workers to be divided into teams

COLOMBO (News1st): Health authorities have been urged to divide healthcare workers into teams to work under separate rosters, amidst a surge in COVID-19 infections. "This would allow one team to undergo quarantine, in the event of detecting a COVID-19 patient, and the other team to report to work," General secretary of the United Health Workers Union Ven Tampitiye Sugathananda Thero said. He pointed out that health workers are the ones who intervene the most with infected patients and need to be protected due to this reason.
