COLOMBO (News1st): Pharmaceutical drugs will be delivered to homes from Tuesday, the health ministry has said, as part of moves to avoid public gatherings due to the surge in COVID-19 cases.
The initiative will commence from the Gampaha and Colombo districts before expanding countrywide, the ministry said in a statement.
Meanwhile, patients with chronic diseases and the elderly have been advised not to attend hospital clinics until further notice.
This is due to the higher risk of contracting COVID-19, acting director-general of health services Dr S. Sridharan said.
Patients have been advised to visit the emergency treatment units of the closest hospital if they experience symptoms of the disease.
