COLOMBO (News1st): The Government Medical Officers Forum has criticized health authorities over their efforts to combat COVID-19 in the country. "There is no health services director," Ven. Muruththettuwe Ananda Thero, the patron of the GMOF said during a media briefing on Monday. He pointed out that there is no one to complain over the lapses in the system due to the absence of an individual in the position. "The mechanism that is implemented while transferring doctors is also questionable," the GMOF patron said urging that the transfers must be stopped. He warned that the country would be severely affected by the COVID-19 if the situation is not rectified. Dr Rukshan Bellana, the GMOF president insisted that legal action must be taken against the health ministry for its failure to appoint a health services director-general. "The health services director is continuing to serve under a letter issued by the health secretary. This is completely wrong," he told reporters during the media briefing.
