Multiple Police Officers including 11 DIGs transferred: Police HQ

COLOMBO (News 1st): A number of Police Officers including 11 Deputy Inspector Generals of Police were transferred, the Police Headquarters announced on Sunday (Oct. 11). Accordingly, DIG Ajith Rohana was appointed as the Police Spokesperson in addition to the Legal, Disciplinary & Conduct Range. DIG E.M.U.V. Gunaratne who was in-charge of the Police Media and Information Technology Range - was transferred to the Environment Protection Division. DIG Nuwan Wedasinghe who served as the Deputy Inspector General in-charge of Colombo-North was appointed as the DIG in-charge of the Galle division. DIG K.V.D.A.J. Karavita who was in-charge of the Police Tourist division was transferred as the DIG in-charge of the Research & Development Division. DIG H.N.K.D. Vijaya Sri was appointed as the Deputy Inspector General of Police in-charge of the Western-North division. DIG A.G.J. Chandrakumara who was in-charge of the Galle division was transferred to the Media and Information Technology Range. DIG S.C. Medawatte who was in-charge of the Welfare and Medical Service Range was transferred to the Human Resources Management and International Relations, Recruitment, and Exam Range. The new DIG in-charge of the Vanni division is DIG M.N. Sisira Kumara. He was previously in-charge of the Human Resources Management Range. DIG S.D.S.P. Sandanayake who was in-charge of the Monaragala Police division was transferred to the Batticaloa division. DIG L. A. Seneviratne from Vanni division was appointed as the DIG in-charge of the Police Tourist Division. The transfer of DIG G.L.N.L. Wijesena from the Batticaloa division to the Research & Development Division was cancelled. The Police Headquarters said the transfers were made by the Acting Inspector General of Police, based on approval of the National Police Commission.
