Minuwangoda COVID-19 cluster: 1186 cases detected so far

COLOMBO (News 1st): A total of 105 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Sri Lanka on Saturday (Oct. 10), taking the total number of cases connected to the Minuwangoda cluster to 1186, according to the latest figures published by the Epidemiology Unit at the Ministry of Health. "Of the total 105 cases detected yesterday (Oct. 10), 103 were connected to the Minuwangoda COVID-19 cluster. As such, the total number of COVID-19 cases connected to the Minuwangoda cluster now stands at 1186," the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) said. Another two staff members from the Minuwangoda Brandix Apparel Factory and 101 close contacts of Apparel Factory workers, were confirmed COVID-19 positive on Saturday (Oct. 10). Further, two Sri Lankan Seafarers also tested positive yesterday (Oct. 10) for the virus, while undergoing quarantine, the Department of Government Information noted. As of Sunday (Oct. 11), a total of 4628 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Sri Lanka since the outbreak, latest figures from the Epidemiology Unit show. Of the confirmed cases, 3306 have recovered, while 1309 active patients continue to receive treatment. The death toll from the virus in Sri Lanka stands at 13.
