Woman who was moved to quarantine died of cardiac arrest & not COVID-19

Colombo (News 1st); The death of a woman who was being moved to quarantine on Wednesday (07) was the result of a cardiac arrest and not due to COVID-19, said Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, the Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID 19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army.

She was being moved to quarantine as she was a contact of one of the COVID-19 cases detected from the Divulapitiya apparel factory cluster.

16 COVID-19 cases were reported from multiple districts apart from the Gampaha district, said the Army Commander.

These cases were reported from the Matale, Badulla, Ampara, Anuradhapura and they are workers attached to the apparel factory and were subject to PCR tests and confirmed positive, two days ago.

The Army Commander said there is a possibility of COVID-19 cases increasing in the coming days.
