Colombo (News 1st); The Police Curfew which was imposed as per the provisions of the Quarantine and Prevention of Diseases Ordinance for the Minuwangoda and Divulapitiya police jurisdictions will remain in effect until further notice, said DIG Ajith Rohana on Sunday (04).
He appealed the general public to adhere to the regulations and refrain from violating the police curfew adding strict legal action will be instituted against those who fail to comply.
Only essential services will operate in the said areas until the police/quarantine curfew is lifted, said the Deputy Police Chief.
DIG Ajith Rohana further stressed everyone must adhere to the health guidelines and maintain social distancing to prevent any form of spread of COVID-19.
Violating the Quarantine Curfew is an offense according to the Quarantine and Prevention of Diseases Ordinance, Code of Criminal Procedure and the Penal Code, he said.
Anyone convicted on those grounds will face a prison sentence or a fine or both, said the Deputy Police Chief.
