COLOMBO (News1st): The adverse weather conditions are repercussions of environmental destruction, indigenous community leader Uru Warige Wannila Aththo has said.

“Today humans do anything for money. They even destroy the environment to earn an income,” the leader said citing it as a negative effect of development.

He observed that environmental destruction continues to take place regardless of the laws in the country.

“Only we understand the importance and value of mother nature as we live in the wilderness,” the indigenous community leader remarked.
