COVID-19 cases rise to 3,281

COLOMBO(News 1st): 5 people tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday (18), raising the total number of confirmed cases in the island to 3,281. In total, 264,343 PCR tests have been conducted in the island, the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak said. On Friday alone, 1,760 PCR tests were conducted. As of this smart, the total number of detainees in quarantine at Kandakadu and Senapura Treatment and Rehabilitation Centres for Drug Addicts stands at 649. Also, 281 people undergoing quarantine at centers maintained by the tri services are to be released to their homes today after having completed the mandatory quarantine period. So far 42,980 people have returned to their homes after completing the quarantine process. 6,172 people in total are undergoing quarantine at 62 Tri services run centers, according to the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak. And 638 people have been released to their homes from the Kandakadu Treatment and Rehab Center while 11 patients continue to receive treatment at there.
