Colombo (News 1st); Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi appointed a five-member committee to probe the conduct of the Sri Lanka Medical Council.
The committee was appointed considering the plethora of complaints received over the conduct of the Sri Lanka Medical Council, said the Health Minister.
The process of delisting several internationally recognized universities, postponement of the SLMC election to appoint representatives to vacant positions, and the registration of doctors without even the minimum required qualification will be looked into by the committee.
In addition, the postponement of the Examination to Register to Practice Medicine of students who studied overseas as well as the SLMC examining complaints beyond its scope will be probed by the five-member committee.
The committee will grill the SLMC and prepare an independent report which will be submitted to the Health Minister.
