Who drafted 20th Amendment to the Constitution?

Government bears responsibility over 20A; SLPP Chairman

Colombo (News 1st); The Government is not aware who drafted the 20th Amendment to the Constitution, alleged National Organizer of the Samagi Jana Balavegaya, Tissa Attanayake.

" Justice Minister Ali Sabry said he produced the 20th Draft Amendment to the Constitution to the Cabinet of Ministers but is unaware who actually drafted it," alleged Attanayake.

He went on to note, a document named the 20th Amendment to the Constitution has been placed in Cabinet without consultation from the government's very own Parliamentary Group and Prime Minister.

However, the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, Minister (Professor) G. L. Peiris said it is the Government that produces the constitution and it is not something prepared by a single person.

" The entire government takes responsibility for this as it is created by the Government," said the SLPP Chairman.

He said the Draft 20th Amendment to the Constitution will be tabled in Parliament after the 17th of September adding, a week after that, anyone can file a case with the Supreme Court if they wish to challenge it.
