The government has taken a policy decision to resume oil and gas exploration.

“Oil and gas exploration had been abandoned for many years,” Joint Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Udaya Gammanpila said at the Cabinet media briefing.

Udaya Gammanpila added that a policy on natural gas has been formulated. The Minister noted that “it has become an essential factor in attracting investors.”
