Sri Lanka Army is developing a 2020 - 2025 Way Forward Strategy; Army Commander

Colombo (News 1st); Sri Lanka Army is developing a 2020 - 2025 Way Forward Strategy, said Army Commander Lt. General Shavendra Silva on Monday (07th September) adding it would be expanded to 2030 as well. 

Sri Lanka Army is the largest disciplined human resource in the country, said the Army Commander adding he does not wish the Sri Lanka Army to be a burden to the country. 

"Today the Sri Lanka Army is engaged in all types of secondary tasks than what we are supposed to do in our primary role," said the Army Commander stressing, "We never say no. We don't have those negative words with us."  

The Army Commander said the organization had not suspended any of its tasks, even in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, adding such standards must be maintained in the country. 

The Sri Lanka Army has developed a soldier's information portal, a geo-based personal information system on GIS Platform, upon which all the personal details of army personnel including the locations of residences are added. 

The Army Commander said he requested such a system to be prepared to understand the position of the Sri Lanka Army across the country, as well as their tasks adding the system, was developed in a short period of time. 

The Army Commander was speaking at 'Finger Swift 2020' - an event organized to unveil and demonstrate the variety of projects done in the diversifications of innovative Information Technology Software Development Solutions, Islandwide Networking Facilities, Up to date Cyber Security Standards, and many other aspects. 

It was organized by the Sri Lanka Army Directorate of Information Technology and its Software Development and Engineering Win with the Sri Lanka Signal Corps.
