Colombo (News 1st);  Justice Minister Ali Sabry said the 19th Amendment to the Constitution will be abolished to create an environment in which the President can work in.

"The new government was elected to work and not to make amendment after amendment, " said the Justice Minister.

He said the commissions established via the provisions of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution have proven to be of no use, noting despite the existence of a National Police Commission, crime had not reduced at all.

In 2015, 6,700 drug samples were brought in, he said.

In 2016 - 7,900, in 2018 - 11,000 and in 2019 -16,000 samples of drugs were brought in for testing, said the Justice Minister adding 14,000 samples were brought in so far this year.
