Colombo (News 1st); The Colombo High Court on Monday (07th September) issued a summons on Former Minister (Dr.) Rajitha Senaratne, the Former Chairman of the Ceylon Fishery Harbours Corporation Upali Liyanage and the Former Managing Director of the Ceylon Fishery Harbours Corporation Neil Raveendra Munasinghe to appear in Court on the 29th of October.

The Bribery Commission filed a case with the Colombo High Court against former Minister Rajitha Senaratne and two others for allegedly causing a loss to the government when leasing out the Modara Fisheries harbour to a private company while he was Fisheries Minister in 2014.

The case will be taken up on the 29th of October, ordered Colombo High Court Judge Pradeep Hettiarachchi.

The Bribery Commission alleged the former Minister had unlawfully taken a decision to lease out the Modara Fisheries harbour to a private company at a lower price between August 1st, 2014 and November 1st, 2014 knowing the transaction would cause an unlawful loss to the government.

Charges were filed under the provisions of the Bribery Act and the Penal Code.
