13 mobile phones discovered from Welikada Female Ward

COLOMBO (News 1st): Prison Intelligence Unit discovered 13 mobile phones at the Female Ward of the Welikada Prison complex. The phones were discovered during a search operation conducted by the Prisons Intelligence Unit, Chandana Ekanayake, the Commissioner (Administration) at the Prisons Department said on Sunday (Sep 06). "While searching the female ward of the Welikada prison, 13 mobile phones, seven sim cards, 150 batteries, and two handsfree headsets were discovered," he further added. While emphasizing that inmates enter the complex through prison gates, subject to inspections of Special Task Force; Chandana Ekanayake noted that such items are passed into the female ward, over the wall at the rear side of the complex.
