COLOMBO (News 1st): The draft of the 20th Amendment to the Constitution will be presented to the Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday (Sep 02). Minister of Justice, Ali Sabry said the draft of the 20th Amendment prepared by the Legal Draftsman's Department was submitted to the Attorney General on Tuesday (Sep 01) for his consideration. According to the Justice Minister, the Attorney General's observations regarding the draft will be received today. A Ministerial Sub Committee was appointed at the 1st Cabinet meeting of the new government, to abolish the 19th Amendment and draft the 20th Amendment to the Constitution. The Ministerial Sub Committee consists of Ministers - Nimal Siripala de Silva, Dinesh Gunawardena, Udaya Gammanpila, Prof. G.L. Peiris, and President's Counsel - Ali Sabry. Meanwhile, Cabinet Spokesperson, Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said the cabinet of ministers will convene today (Sep 02) at 4:00 pm under the patronage of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
