COLOMBO (News 1st): A total of 7,990 people in 70 tri-service-managed QCs are still in quarantine, National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) stated.
According to the NOCPCO, 1810 PCR tests were carried out across the country on Tuesday (Sep 02), and the total PCR tests conducted so far stands at 228,052.
A total of 35,338 individuals were sent back home after completing the mandatory quarantine period as of Wednesday morning (Sep 02), the NOCPCO further added.
On Wednesday (Sep 02), 402 quarantined individuals are scheduled to leave quarantine centres for their homes, following PCR tests.
As of Wednesday morning (Sep 02), another 43 were confirmed COVID-19 positive.
National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak stated all new infections were among expatriates.
“Among the new cases confirmed, 30 were foreign returnees from Doha in Qatar, five from Kuwait, six from the Maldives, one from the United Arab Emirates, and one Indian Civil Sea Marshal,” the NOCPCO said.
By 6.00 am on Wednesday morning (Sep 02), the total number of detainees at Kandakadu Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre for Drug Addicts stands at 639.
“Of them, 518 individuals are detainees under rehabilitation, 67 staff members, five guest staffers, 48 family members, and close associates, including an individual who got in contact with the infected inmate at the Welikada Prison,” NOCPCO further added.
The flight EK 648 from UAE with 29 Civil Sea Marshals and the flight QR 668 from Doha, Qatar with 57 passengers arrived in Colombo and all of them are expected to be referred to Quarantine Centres, managed by tri-services after formalities at the airport.
Meanwhile, 11 positive COVID-19 cases after full recovery left hospitals early on Wednesday morning (Sep 02).
All of them were expatriates in quarantine.
Accordingly, 624 individuals, associated with the Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre for Drug addicts at Kandakadu have left so far after recovery.
A total of 15 infected persons, connected to the Rehabilitation Centre are still under treatment.
