New constitution is required : Wimal Weerawansa

COLOMBO (News1st): Industries minister Wimal Weerawansa has said a new constitution must be introduced in the country, amidst moves to bring forward a 20th amendment. "However, majority of the Government is of the opinion that we have to solve the issued created by the 19th and move forward," Weerawansa said on Tuesday. He pointed out that the rift created between the President and the Prime Minister through the 19th amendment will be resolved practically under the current administration. "...the draft 20th amendment proposes that we have to forward with some provisions that are there in the 19th amendment," the minister noted. He said that this matter would be discussed in the cabinet and the parliamentary group in order to arrive at a final decision.
