AG meets UNODC Sri Lanka Chief & other experts to discuss crimes affecting the region

Colombo (News 1st);  Attorney General Dappula De Livera and State Prosecutors on Friday (21) met with the Country Chief of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in Sri Lanka and the United Nations Maritime Expert on International Drug Trafficking, Organized Crime and Terrorism. 

Coordinating Officer to the Attorney General, State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne speaking to News 1st said both sides had effective discussions on legal issues affecting region. 

She said these issues relate to international drug trafficking as well as other related crimes including terrorism. 

Further, the Attorney General paid special attention towards the impact of these crimes and events having on Sri Lanka. 

In a tweet, the Head of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in Sri Lanka said he had a great discussion with Dappula De Livera, the Attorney General on maritime drug trafficking, organized crime and terrorism.

He said the UNODC is ready to assist and the EU and Germany will contribute with strong financial support.
