Sri Lanka Navy seize over 7000 kg of Turmeric smuggled since 28th July

COLOMBO (News 1st): Sri Lanka Navy has seized a total of 7552 kilograms of Turmeric smuggled into the island during special raids conducted since 28th July, Navy officials said. "The stocks of Turmeric were seized while being transported by vehicles, after being smuggled into the country via sea routes," Navy Spokesperson, Indika De Silva said on Friday (Aug 14). He further said, 261 kg of Cardamom smuggled into the country was also seized during a raid in Kalpitiya, on the 8th of August.
