Rajapaksa vows to continue SL’s cooperation with India

COLOMBO (News1st): Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has said he hopes to continue Sri Lanka’s cooperation with India during his term in office.

“As I always say, India is our friend and relation,” the Prime Minister had told the Frontline website of India’s Hindu newspaper on Sunday.

He had said that he hopes to continue the “wide cooperation” for the mutual benefit of both countries.

India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the first foreign state leader to congratulate Rajapaksa after his party’s landslide victory at the parliamentary poll.

“I am thankful to Prime Minister Modi for his warm wishes,” Rajapaksa had said.
