Probe on PNB drug trafficking ring continues

Assets of PNB officers involved in drug trafficking to be seized.

Colombo (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police said a decision was made to confiscate the assets of the Police Narcotic Bureau Officers involved in trafficking drugs.

Police said the property acquired by the suspect officers from money generated through drug trafficking will be confiscated as per the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

Sri Lanka Police added, it is accumulating information on the assets of the 13 suspects who will be produced in court once again on Tuesday (04) from remand custody.

08 other Police Narcotic Bureau Officers are being interrogated, said Sri Lanka Police.

Further, the Government Analyst's Department said the reports on the samples obtained from the PNB evidence storage will be handed over to court following the conclusion of the 2020 General Elections.

A Senior Officer said reports on 08 vehicles said to have been used by the suspects will also be handed over to the court, adding these investigations are extremely complex in nature.
