COLOMBO (News1st): President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has said Hambantota will be developed as a commercial city to function as an international coordination centre. The President had made these remarks during his visit to Hambantota in support of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna candidates, the President's Office said. He had said that his government will compete in international markets by establishing a “C-shaped economic corridor‟ connecting two main ports and airports while integrating all business zones. The public addressed their grievances to the President who attended a public gathering organized by candidate Harsha Udayakumara at the Lunugamvehera Bus Stop premises. The attention of the President was drawn to the shortages in Hambantota Mahanagapura Maha Vidyalaya and Lunugamvehera Maha Vidyalaya. During the occasion, children had donated some of their savings to the COVID – 19 Fund. The President also participated at public meetings organized by candidate Upul Sanjeewa Galappaththi, Ajith Rajapaksa and Minister Mahinda Amaraweera.
