Anti-India protests regarding ECT over, port workers back to work

COLOMBO (News1st): Port workers, on Sunday, ended a Satyagraha campaign over the Colombo Port's East Container Terminal, following talks with the Prime Minister, unions said. On Wednesday, port workers began a strike leading to a suspension of operations at the port by the third day, against moves to handover the terminal to foreign entities. Unions demanded the government to provide a written assurance before the August 5 parliamentary election, stating that the terminal will be solely operated by the Sri Lanka Ports Authority.
