Treasury releases funds to Paddy Marketing Board for Yala season's harvest

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Treasury has released funds to the Paddy Marketing Board required to purchase paddy from the "Yala" season. According to the Ministry of Finance, Economic and Policy Development, a kilo of paddy from the Yala season will be purchased at Rs. 50. Storage facilities of the Paddy Marketing Board have already been opened to facilitate the purchasing process. A kilo of Nadu paddy was purchased at Rs. 38 and Samba paddy at Rs. 41 per kilo, in 2019. "All varieties of paddy will be purchased at Rs. 50 per kilo this year," the Ministry of Finance, Economic and Policy Development noted.
