Special Security Drill at Parliamentary Complex ( VIDEO)

Colombo (News 1st);  A special security drill took place at the Parliamentary Complex on Tuesday aimed at facing any emergency situation.

Sergeant-at-Arms Narendra Fernando speaking to News 1st confirmed this was the first in Sri Lankan Parliamentary history such an exercise had taken place.

Exercises on disaster response, hostage rescue, and VIP protection during the parliamentary sessions were put in to test on Tuesday morning.

The entire exercise was monitored by a control center set-up at the Parliamentary Complex.

The exercise took place following a request made by the Sergeant-at-Arms Narendra Fernando from the Secretary of Defence with the approval of General Secretary of Parliament Dhammika Dassanayake.

The Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Air Force, Sri Lanka Navy, Sri Lanka Police, Police Special Task Force, Intelligence Services, the Fire Brigade took part in the exercise which was led by the

4th Commando Regiment.
