No more trading inside SLTB and Private buses

Colombo (News 1st); The Minister of Transport instructed the Sri Lanka Transport Board to ensure steps are taken to put an immediate end to trading inside SLTB and Private buses, taking into concerns surrounding the spread of COVID-19.

In a statement, the Ministry of Transport said the general public had filed complaints citing certain mobile vendors board buses for trading without even following the basic health guidelines.

The Department of Railways prohibited vendors from boarding the trains with effect from March.

The Ministry of Transport said certain vendors who board buses are engaged in the sale of water bottles and fruits and this daily process possibly paves the way for the coronavirus to spread.

Therefore, Minister of Transport Mahinda Amaraweera instructed for the immediate stop of trading inside buses and advised the relevant authorities to obtain assistance from the security forces as well.
