Two more test positive for COVID-19 from Kandakadu

COLOMBO (News1st): Two more employees at the Kandakadu Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre tested positive for the coronavirus, authorities said on Sunday. The patients were identified as residents of Heenatigala, Habaraduwa in Galle and Akbopura in Kantale. "Sixteen people including family members and close contacts (of the patient from Galle) will be subjected to PCR tests," Pamodha Siriwardena, the medical officer of health in Habaraduwa said. Family members of the patient from Kantale, who has been identified as an army officer, and area residents have been subjected to self quarantine, officials said. PCR tests are to be carried out on them as well. Meanwhile, a special investigation has been launched to trace the contacts of the COVID-19 patients who were reported from the Yaya Paha area in Rajanganaya in Anuradhapura. PCR tests had been carried out on 60 people following which 12 people tested positive by 11:30 am on Sunday. "We expect to obtain the other reports intermittently and to provide them the treatment as a when required," Dr. Palitha Bandara, the Health Services Director of the North Central Province said. Travelling around Rajanganaya in Anuradhapura and its surrounding areas have been restricted.
