Don't believe false information on COVID-19: Police

COLOMBO (News1st) : The Police has urged the people to avoid being duped by false information on coronavirus patients circulating on social media. "Gossip and false posts are circulating on social media claiming that coronavirus patients have been identified in several parts of the country," police spokesman Jaliya Senaratne said. He requested the people to only trust information issued by the department of government information, the presidential task force on COVID-19, or the director general of health services. "The law would be enforced strictly against individuals who spread false stories," Senaratne added.
