COLOMBO (News1st) : A committee appointed to review the US Millenium Challenge Corporation (MCC) agreement has reiterated that the pact must not be signed by Sri Lanka.
"We must not allow foreign entities to meddle with the internal matters of our country," Prof. Lalithasiri Gunaruwan, the chairman of the committee told reporters on Friday.
He emphasised that the country must not be betrayed at any cost.
The MCC agreement, would see 480 million US dollars being offered to Sri Lanka for projects concerning land administration and the transport sector.
Prof. Gunaruwan told reporters that the former government had inked two agreements to obtain grants adding upto 10 million US dollars.
"If someone says that no such agreements were signed, you can have a look at it (the review report) and find out who is lying and who is not," he remarked.
The committee chairman said that the country had not received a money although the agreements had been signed.
