Colombo (News 1st); Leader of the JVP Anura Kumara Dissanayake said he was served with a summons to appear at the Presidential Commission of Inquiry appointed to probe into incidents of Political Victimisation.

"I have been summoned to be present at the Presidential Commission of Inquiry at 11:30 AM tomorrow", said Dissanayake adding the JVP will ensure the PCoI will be a turning point in their struggle to bring an end to fraud and corruption in the country.

If public property is being swindled by a handful of individuals, the core objective of this struggle should be to ensure those accountable are penalized and the monies recovered, said the Leader of the JVP.

Anura Kumara Dissanayake said it is of paramount importance to set up an establishment that would investigate incidents of fraud and corruption and locate where the embezzled money is hidden.

He said, however, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa had appointed a contrary Presidential Commission of Inquiry.

Anura Kumara Dissanayake said serving a summons on personnel from the Attorney General's Department by the PCoI eventually makes those officers respondents.

Senior State Counsel Janaka Bandara on whom the summons was served, is prosecuting the Avant-Garde High Seas Arms Trafficking Case in Court.

AKD said, in court, the Attorney General's Department is the prosecutor while Avant-Garde is the respondent.

However, at the Presidential Commission of Inquiry Avant-Garde is the complainant while the Attorney General's Department is made the respondents.

Anura Kumara Dissanayake said the people of the country must understand for themselves as to how justifiable these events are.
