Colombo Crimes Division arrests four suspects over the attack on Kanchipani Imran's father

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Colombo Crimes Division arrested three more suspects in connection with the attack on Kanchipani Imran's father in Maligawatta on Wednesday (June 17), the Police Headquarters in a statement on Thursday (June 18). Three suspects who arrived in a three-wheeler attacked Kanchipani Imran's father down Saddharma Mawatha which falls within the jurisdiction of the Maligwatte Police, on Wednesday. According to the Police HQ statement, a detention order was obtained to hold one suspect for 48 hours, after he was produced at the Hulftsdorp Number 04 Magistrates court. "Two suspects in connection with the incident and another who aided and abetted it were arrested today by the Colombo Crimes Division at around 3:30 pm in the Maligawatta area," read the Police Statement; further adding three knives and the three-wheeler used for the act were also seized. The two chief suspects arrested in connection with the incident are 17 and 27-year old residents of Madampitiya and Henamulla. The other suspect is a 29-year-old resident of Grandpass, read the Police statement. "The three suspects arrested today will be handed over to the Maligawatte Police stations and further investigations are conducted by Maligawatta Police," Police Headquarters said.
