COLOMBO (News 1st): Minister of Education, Dullus Alahapperuma has instructed Secretary to the Ministry of Education, Examination Commissioner and other officials at the Education Ministry to consider whether holding this year’s GCE Advanced Level examination as announced on the 07th of September, is in favour of the students.
Many parties have requested the Education Ministry and the Subject Minister to further postpone the date of the GCE A/L examination, taking into account the challenges faced by A/L students due to the inability to cover syllabuses, as schools were closed in line with the spread of COVID-19, a communique issued by the Ministry of Education on Tuesday (June 16), read.
Accordingly, Minister Alahapperuma has instructed the officials to consider the requests as a just right of the students and thereby, further look into the matter.
The communique bearing the signature of the Education Ministry’s Secretary further noted a final decision on the date of the GCE A/L examination will be announced within the 1st weekend following the opening of schools on the 6th of July.
Further, proposals and suggestions of A/L students, teachers and principals will be taken into account when making the final decision on 2020 GCE A/L examination date.
