Trial Elections to be held across 06 districts today

The National Elections Commission said trial elections will take place across 06 districts today. Those districts are, Jaffna, Ampara, Badulla, Kalutara, Batticaloa and Nuwara Eliya. Yesterday, trial elections were conducted in the Gampaha, Puttlam, Matale, Polonnaruwa, Hambantota and Matara districts. In addition, trial elections will also be held in the Mullaitivu district on the 15th of June and in two selected localities in the Colombo district on the 20th of June. Accordingly, the National Elections Commission expects to hold 15 trial elections around the island to determine the practicality of holding the upcoming general election abiding by the given health guidelines. Recommendations and guidelines on how to conduct elections abiding by the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health, have been issued to the relevant District Selection Officers, the National Elections Commission further added.
