COLOMBO (News1st): The government has permitted tuition classes and religious places to reopen this month, as the country further eases restrictions imposed due to COVID-19. Tuition classes will be permitted to resume from June 29, director-general of health services Dr Anil Jasinghe said in a statement on Wednesday. "Social distancing must be practised based on the space in the class while also limiting the maximum number of students to 100," he said. Tuition classes which do not have sufficient facilities to accommodate 100 students at a time, will be allowed to tutor only half of the total capacity. Meanwhile, religious places will be able to re-open on June 12 with the maximum number of worshippers to be capped at 50 at a time, the health chief noted. Places of worship which lack space to accomodate 50 worshippers, will be permitted to accomodate only half of the total capacity in the facility.
