Using President's name to exert influence in govt. institutions will lead to trouble

Colombo (News 1st); The Presidential Secretariat requests it be notified immediately of any instance the President's name is being used to exert influence at government institutions.

The President's Media Division said any such instance must be informed to Retired Major General K.B. Egodawele, Director General - Administration of the Presidential Secretariat through the telephone numbers 011 235 44 79 or 011 235 43 54.

The PMD said continuous complaints were received with regard to instances of the President's Name, the President's Forged Signature, and the President's Letterhead being used to exert influence on Ministries, Departments, State Corporations and Statutory Bodies, for various suspicious activity.

The President's Office noted it received reports of certain individuals personally visiting the heads of institutions using forged documents to exert pressure and influence on various matters.

The President's Office said inquiries revealed such people claim they are exerting influence on the instructions of the President.
