Preferential voting numbers will be issued tomorrow

Preferential voting numbers of the candidates contesting the general election will be issued tomorrow and the date of the election will be announced next week, the National Elections Commission said on Monday. The Elections commission reconvened at about 10.30 this morning to discuss the matters relating to the conduct of the elections. The gazette notification containing the date of the election will be issued either on the 11th, the 12th or the 13th June, chairman of the elections commission Mahinda Deshapriya said, speaking at a media briefing was held after the meeting. Discussions will also be held with the Director-General of health services Dr. Anil Jasinghe and representatives of political parties, he added.
