Three police officers interdicted over assault on autistic teenager

COLOMBO (News1st) : Three police officers have been interdicted for "neglecting their duties" over the assault of an autistic teenager in Aluthgama on May 25, police said. They are a sub police inspector, a sergeant and a constable who had been sent on special duty to the Aluthgama police station. They had originally been attached to the Kalutara Police College, a statement issued by the police headquarters read. CCTV footage circulating on social media showed the boy being attacked by the police for wandering out while a curfew was in effect. The recent assault had come under fire from several public factions including on social media.
