COLOMBO (News 1st): Measures have been taken to close all liquor stores and taverns in the island on Sunday and Monday (May 24 – May 25).

“The decision was reached, in line with the island-wide curfew in effect from 8:00 pm last night,” said Mr. Kapila Kumarasinghe, Deputy Excise Commissioner on Sunday (May 24).

Accordingly, all liquor stores including the ones in Colombo and Gampaha will be closed while curfew is in effect.

“Raids will be carried out to apprehend those who open liquor stores and taverns while curfew is in force in the island,” told Mr. Kumarasinghe.
