Schools buses likely to be painted yellow

President wants to make the SLTB a profit-making institution

Colombo (News 1st); President Gotabaya Rajapaksa had put forward a series of proposals to convert the Sri Lanka Transport Board into a leading profit making institution in the country.

The President had stressed, the SLTB could become an entity that provides funds to the Treasury rather than the Treasury making allocations for the SLTB.

The President made the observation at a meeting on Thursday to discuss the progress and present state of the Sri Lanka Transport Board.

The President had proposed to explore the possibility of implementing a system where anyone traveling in a private motorcar can park the vehicle at a certain location and then use a bus to commute, in order to prevent traffic congestion.

The discussion also focused on painting the school buses in yellow and giving priority for school buses during traffic.
