Nearly 7,000 people penalized for curfew violations: SL Police

COLOMBO (News 1st): In the 24 hour window that ended at 6:00 am on Friday (May 22nd), 528 people were arrested for curfew violations. Sri Lanka Police have seized 150 vehicles during this time period for violating police curfew. As of 6:00 am on Friday, a total of 61,621 people have been arrested for violation of police curfew since it was imposed on the 20th of March. A total of 17,322 vehicles have been seized since 20th March. Of the total arrested cases, legal action has been filed against 18,496 people for police curfew violations, since 18th of March till Friday morning. "6,991 people have been penalized for curfew violations," said Sri Lanka Police.
