Buses will ply among districts from today except in areas that have been declared as high-risk for the Coronavirus, the Ministry of Passenger Transport Management says.

A decision had been reached to resume inter-provincial buses from today, Passenger Transport Management Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said.

However, the Minister said buses will ply only for the benefit of those returning to work in either public institutions or companies.

He said that health authorities had advised that ordinary passengers refrain from using public transport for a few days.

It was also decided to allow those from the public and private sector to travel in trains even without a reservation.
