COLOMBO (News 1st): The Cyclonic storm 'Amphan' has further intensified into an Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm, centered over the Central part of the Bay of Bengal about 765 km North-east of Trincomalee. It is expected to intensify into a Super Cyclonic storm during next 12 hours and likely to move north-northeastwards towards west Bengal coast during the afternoon of 20th May. The Department of Meteorology said due to the influence of the system the prevailing showery condition over the island particularly in the south-western part is likely to continue further. Heavy showers above 150 mm are likely at some places with high Wind speeds. Fishermen have once again been warned not to set out to sea until further notice
