Validity period of all visas for foreigners extended by 30 days

Sri Lanka has further extended the validity period of all visas for foreigners by another 30 days, until June 11th, 2020. The previous extension granted on April 1st will conclude tomorrow, the 12th of May. The Department notes that fines on visas that expire between 7th March 2020 to 11th June 2020 have been removed. The Immigration and Emigration Department has instructed all applicants to pay the relevant visa fee and get the visa endorsed in the passport, by securing an appointment via the department's official website, immigration.gov.lk on or before June 11th. A client who wishes to obtain a service should book a date and time via the official website of the department, or via the hotlines: 070 710 1060 or 070 710 1070 The Department of Immigration and Emigration will resume operations from tomorrow, and operate between 9 am and 4 pm. The following regulations should be followed when visiting the department:
  • Only those who have placed an appointment are allowed to enter the Immigration and Emigration Department.
  • Only a limited number of appointments will be allowed daily and therefore, applicants are advised to visit the department 15 minutes prior to their appointment.
  • The time allocated per applicant will be limited to 10 minutes in the coming days, and applicants will not be allowed to enter the department premises after the allocated time.
  • All those who visit to obtain services must comply with health guidelines.
