Travel restrictions on Abeypura in the Polonnaruwa District relaxed

COLOMBO (News1st): The order to declare the Abeypura area in the north-central district of Polonnaruwa as an isolated area was lifted on Thursday. The order was lifted after 35 people who had come into contact with an infected patient in the area, had returned to their homes after completing quarantine. These residents had undergone quarantine in two centres located in the Eastern district of Batticaloa. The Abeypura area was declared as an isolated zone along with 11 other villages, in late April, after a person in the area tested positive for the virus. Entering or leaving isolated areas has been completely prohibited by authorities as part of efforts to stem the spread of COVID-19.
