COLOMBO (News1st): More than 800 people stranded in the Western Province due to curfew restrictions, will be allowed to return to their homes on Thursday, police said. The government has enforced curfew restrictions - including a ban on travelling between districts - to stem the spread of the coronavirus, since March 20. More than 53,000 people are stranded in the Western region since arriving for employment and academic purposes, state authorities say. Accordingly, the government has begun facilitating the return of these people, while directing them to undergo self quarantine upon reaching their homes. Earlier this week, more than 700 people were transported to their homes by the Police.
