Cabinet nod to refurbish 10 roads at Rs 15 bn

COLOMBO (News1st): Cabinet approval was granted to refurbish 10 roads using a loan of Rs 15 billion obtained from China Development Bank.

Highways minister Johnston Fernando had put forward a proposal to this effect during this week’s cabinet meeting.

“These 10 roads spanning 105 kilometres would be refurbished,” Ramesh Pathirana, the co-cabinet spokesman told reporters on Wednesday

The roads which will be refurbished are as follows ;

  1. Akuressa – Kamburupitiya road
  2. Beliatta – Kirinda road
  3. Tangalle – Weeraketiya road
  4. Walasmulla – Weeraketiya road
  5. Weeraketiya – Middeniya road
  6. Walasmulla – Nathuwala road
  7. Katuwana – Urubokka road
  8. Sumihirigama – Nathuwala road
  9. Walasmulla – Devalagama road
  10. Narandeniya – Hakmana road
