COLOMBO (News1st): Ranil Jayawardena, a UK parliamentarian of Sri Lankan origin, has been appointed as a minister in Prime Minister Boris Johnson's government. "It’s a great privilege to have been asked by Boris Johnson to serve as a trade minister at this crucial time," Jayawardena, aged 33, tweeted. The newly-appointed minister who has been serving as a lawmaker since 2015, was appointed the Deputy Chairman of the Conservative Party this year. "I look forward to working with Liz Truss to underpin the government’s agenda for ‘Global Britain’. Much to do..." he signed off on his tweet.
